Alajeró is a municipality in the south of the island La Gomera.

The territory of the parish Alajeró was already settled by the Canarian natives of the island. The place Alajeró is located on a ridge in the highlands of the island. Several other, partly abandoned settlements belong to the community. Most important is Playa de Santiago, originally a fishing village on the south coast of the island. This district belongs largely to Alajeró, a part is also on the district of San Sebastián. In 1999 at Playa de Santiago the 28.029625-17.2146La Gomera island airport(IATA: GMZ) opened.

In 1904 the Norwegian came Thomas Olsen to the island and cultivated banana plantations here in the south. Meanwhile, his son Fred Olsen with the company Fred Olsen Express a major ferry company, shares in hotels and holiday resorts are also owned by the family.
