La Gomera is one of the Canary Islands located in the western part of the Spanish archipelago.

Geographical notes
The main peak of the island is the Garajonay, 1,487 m high and included in thehomonymous national park.
Background
From this island, on September 6, 1492, the fleet of Christopher Columbus left for the Indies.
Spoken languages
On the island there is a particular language called silbo gomero, consisting entirely of whistles. It was used in the past by shepherds to communicate over large distances, in the order of a few kilometers.

By plane
La Gomera has a small airport in the south of the island that makes connections almost exclusively with the other islands of the archipelago.
The main port of the island is San Sebastián de la Gomera, with ferries to Santa Cruz de la Palma (up The Palm), Los Cristianos (up Tenerife) is Puerto de la Estaca (up El Hierro).
