Alak - a city in the south Mauritania, the capital of the region Al-Barakina.

Alak is located on the Route de l'Espoir ("Way of Hope") - the communication route connecting Nouakchott with An-Nama. The city is an important transportation hub, located halfway between Kifa - one of the largest cities in southern Mauritania - and the country's capital, Nouakchott. Additionally, the roads go south towards Kaihajdi from here.
