Albacete is the capital of the Spanish of the same name Albacete Province and the largest city (though not the capital) of the Autonomous Community of Castile-La Mancha.

By plane

Albacete's own airport is that Aeropuerto de Albacete-Los Llanos, actually a military airport. In the last few years there were no more regular flight connections. From the airport Alicante, one of the busiest airports in Spain, is 175 km from Albacete. From Alicante you can get to Albacete quickly with the AVE high-speed train. Another international airport is at Valencia, from there it is about 160 km to Albacete (but it takes longer).

By train

Albacete train station is on the high-speed line between Madrid and Alicante. The high-speed trains AVE and Alvia stop here. From Madrid-Puerta de Atocha there is a high-speed train every one or two hours, it takes between 1:20 (AVE) and 1:40 hours (Alvia). There are also somewhat slower Altaria and InterCity. There are also high-speed trains from Alicante every two hours, taking around 50 minutes (AVE) to 1:05 hours (Alvia). From Valencia – Estació del Nord there are six continuous connections every day that take 1:40 (InterCity) to a good 2 hours (regional express).
