Alcácer do Sal is a Portuguese city belonging to the District of Setúbal, in the region of Lower Alentejo and in the Alentejo Litoral subregion, with about 9102 inhabitants.
It is the seat of a large municipality, with an area of 1479.94 km² but only 13 354 inhabitants (2006), subdivided into 6 parishes. The municipality is limited to the north by the municipalities of palmela, new sales and Montemor-o-Novo, northeast by Viana do Alentejo, east by Alvito, south by Ferreira do Alentejo and by Grandola, to the west also by Grândola, through an arm of the Sado Estuary and to the northwest, through the Sado Estuary, by Setúbal.Rio Sado in Alcácer do Sal.
