- 1 Alcácer do Sal — a very old town on top of a hill, by the Sado river
- 2 Comporta — a town in the Sado Estuary Nature Reserve and the Comporta-Galé Community Area that affords great wildlife viewing
- 3 Grândola — a town known for singer Zeca Afonso as "Vila Morena" (tawny town), with a mountain 8v the same name
- 4 Vila Nova de Milfontes — a town near a bay and the sea.
- 5 Odemira — the largest municipality in Portugal by area
- 6 Santiago do Cacém — it has Roman ruins, a Moorish castle, and a 13th-century church
- 7 Sines — birthplace of Vasco da Gama
- 8 Zambujeira do Mar — a small seaside town with fine sandy beaches and traditional architecture; it is part of the Nature Park of the Southwest Alentejo
