Alise-Sainte-Reine is a town french located in the center of the Golden Coast in Burgundy. It is best known for having been, in Antiquity, the theater of the siege of Alesia but also for having been the the birthplace of Canon Kir, the inventor of the famous blackcurrant.

(4 steps at the entrance and door with two fairly narrow leaves). Small hall church from XIIIe century with a single nave and apse choir shaped cul-de-four. The foundations, from the Merovingian period, date back to VIIe century. Canon Kir was a priest in this church and his bust is in a niche in the northern facade.

If it turns out that holy queen was beheaded at Alesia in the year 252, popular tradition places this place here and wants a miraculous spring to spring up at the place where his head fell. In its current state, the fountain and the aedicule which surrounds it date from 1931. It was the object of a long pilgrimage.

This chapel is the only vestige of a convent of Franciscan monks. Its construction began in 1666, in place of a small chapel from 1498. Destroyed by fire in 1796, its reconstruction will be completed in 1863. Inside, you can see a statue of the Holy Queen, in polychrome stone, and one of Saint Sebastian, both from the middle of XVIe century and classified as historical monuments.

House where the secular priest, canon and politician was born Felix Kir the parents who came from Alsace in 1870. He is best known for having invented the "Kir "Also known as" blanc-cassis ". His grave is in the cemetery of Alise-Sainte-Reine.

free activity, duration: six days on foot, approximately seven hours per day.
free. – Course of 120 km for experienced hikers and signposted from the parking lot of the archaeological site of Alésia. The route is intended to be as faithful as possible to historical reality and to the route taken by Vercingetorix between his inauguration at the beginning of To Bibracte as warlord of the Gallic coalition and Alise-Sainte-Reine where the Alésia headquarters. The hike is done on foot, on horseback or Mountain biking.
