Allaman is a Swiss Municipality in the canton Vaud.

background

Allaman is a typical wine-growing settlement on Lake Geneva. Graves from the Neolithic and Bronze Age were found in the municipality. The area was also settled in Roman times, house foundations and coins have been found. Allaman is first mentioned in a document in 1234.

getting there

The motorway connection Aubonne the A1 is around 1 km from the village.

The S-Bahn lines S 3 and S 4 of the S-Bahn Léman, which come from Lausanne, end at Allaman station. The Regional Express trains (RE) also stop there Lausanne to Geneva.

Tourist Attractions

  • Saint-Jean. The reformed parish church of Saint-Jean was mentioned as early as the 14th century. The choir windows and side chapels are in the late Gothic style.
  • Allaman Castle. The castle was built in the 15th and 16th centuries and rebuilt in the 18th century. It consists of two wings assembled at right angles. The massive square tower is attached to the southwest corner. There are arcades and beautiful baroque windows facing the courtyard.
  • Maison de Rochefort. Rin winery in the city of Lausanne. It is a fortified structure whose roots are believed to be in the Middle Ages.
