Economy
Andalusia is an agricultural region, but the service sector (mainly tourism, retail and transport) prevails. The construction sector, hit hard by the 2009 recession, was also important to the region's economy. The industrial sector is less developed than in most regions of Spain. According to the Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE), between 2000 and 2006, Andalusia's GDP per capita remained the second lowest in Spain, after Extremadura.
In Andalusia, olives (75% of the national harvest), cotton, grains, vines, tobacco, dates, cork oak, sugar beet, citrus trees and esparto trees are grown on the basis of artificial irrigation. Sheep and goats are bred here. Iron, copper, manganese, uranium and pyrite ores are also mined. The metallurgical, shipbuilding, textile, chemical, food and refining industries are also well developed. Sea ports play an important role in the economy of the region.

Cities
Interesting places
- White cities - a group of cities and towns in the provinces of Cadiz and Málaga. The name of the cities comes from the white facades of the houses that are painted with lime. They are all located in the Sierra de Grazalema mountains and the "Parque Natural de la Sierra de Grazalema - Andalusian National Park". The "Ruta de los pueblos blancos" hiking trail runs between the towns.
- Costa del Sol - the coast of the sun - there are monuments of the Moorish culture. There are over 30 golf courses on the Costa del Sol, considered to be the best in Europe. An incredible tourist attraction is also the nearby Gibraltar, which is just a step away from Morocco. Flamenco was born in Andalusia, hence the tradition of folk games and fests, the corrida.
- Costa de la Luz - the coast of light
- Sierra Nevada - ski region
- Close to the mouth of the Guadalquivir into the ocean is the Doñana National Park, a UNESCO Heritage Site

Security
Andalusia is not a very dangerous region, but it is worth paying attention to your belongings in public places (including wallets and phones), due to the increasing number of thefts. It is also not advised to walk alone after dusk and in the morning.
Health
Hospitals and clinics should provide primary care where necessary, as Spain is one of the EU members.
