Ascona (Scona in the Lombard dialect of Ticino, Aschgunen or Aschonen in German obsolete) is a municipality Swiss of the Canton Ticino, to the shore of the Lake Maggiore.

Geographical notes
The center of the Ascona agglomeration lies on the north-east bank of the Lake Maggiore to the bay under Monte Verità, while the municipal territory extends over almost the entire western part of the delta of the Maggia river.

- 2 Serodine house, Town Hall Square. Baroque facade with stucco decorations by Giovanni Battista Serodine (1587-1626).
- 3 Monte Verità. From 1900, intellectuals and artists gathered in search of alternative values and ways of life. Today, in addition to the seminar center and hotel, it houses the plantation and tea house and a pavilion with a Zen garden.
- 4 Parish Church of St. Peter and Paul. frescoes from the 15th century and by P.F. Pancaldi-Mola and canvases by G. Serodine.
- 5 Church and Castle of S. Michele. in ancient times the castle had the task of protecting. In the 17th century the chapel of San Michele was built in the ruins of the castle.
