By plane
The Milan Malpensa Airport
(IATA: MXP) is about 25 km south of Arona. There is a train (one change) from the airport to Baveno in 1:43 hours. The train runs every two hours.
By train
The 1 Baveno train station is on the railway line (RFI 23) between Milan and Domodossola. But no long-distance trains stop at this station. Arrival by train is therefore via Stresa. From there on by regional train, bus, taxi or boat.

It is worth visiting the Borromean Islands (Isola Bella, Isola Madre and Isola Pescartore) and visiting by boat Stresa. You can also take the ship to Intra (a district of Verbania). A trip by ship and train, called the Lago Maggiore Express, is also interesting. This round trip starts with the train from Baveno to Domodossola, it continues with the Centrovalli train to Locarno. After a four-hour stop in Locarno, a ship goes directly to Baveno. This trip cost 34 euros in 2015. For EUR 10 more you can get an additional day pass for the whole of Lake Maggiore. This can be used, for example, for a trip to the market in Luio.

Every Monday there is a market in Baveno. There is a small grocery store near the church. There is also a tobacco shop there. The post office is opposite the Hotel Dino. A little further south near the jetty there is also a bank with an ATM and a travel agency.

The cuisine is Italian. Pizza, pasta and polenta are available in practically every restaurant. In the Hotel Dino you can eat well, but also a little expensive.

The nightlife outside of the hotels is not very abundant. There is a sports bar at the Hotel Dino, which is open longer than 8:00 p.m., the usual opening times of the cafes.
