Mountains on Rügen is the regional center of the island to reprimand. By the way, the name says it all in the city, because the old town center is located high up on the northwest slope of the Rugard.

The train station is an IC stop. Also operates from here to Lauterbach-Mole Putbus the Pressnitz Valley Railway.

Tourist Attractions
- City center with some noteworthy town houses on the market square. A visit to the nicely spruced up town center of Bergen is particularly worthwhile for a visit to St. Mary's Church. The half-timbered building of the can also be found on the market Benedixhaus. According to the local signs, the house is the oldest residential building on the island of Rügen (first mentioned in a document in 1630). The tourist information and the registry office are located in the house. In terms of timber-frame technology, however, the house is not particularly outstanding in Germany (so you don't have to drive to Bergen). The market square itself is largely used as a car park (fee payable, the first 30 minutes are free).
- 1 Marienkirche - The former monastery church of St. Marien, which is well worth seeing, was built from 1193 onwards.
Rugard
The Ernst-Moritz-Arndt Tower is already a sight as a building. In addition, when the visibility is good, there is a panoramic view of large parts of the island of Rügen.
- 2 Ernst Moritz Arndt Tower - The 91 m high "mountain" is the highest point near mountains. From the tower, which was completed in 1877, you have a very nice panoramic view of large parts of the island of Rügen. The uppermost, outer viewing gallery is already largely waxed in. With the glass dome installed during the last tower renovation in 2004, the tower again received a remarkable panoramic view, as you can now look over most of the trees in the higher-lying glass dome. However, in rainy weather, the view is likely to be largely restricted by the water droplets on the glass dome. In sunny summer weather, it is also quite warm in the dome. At the bottom of the tower information boards provide information about the writer Ernst Moritz Arndt.

- Summer toboggan run - There has also been one on the Rugard since 2005 Summer toboggan runwhich is open all year round. With a difference in altitude of 27 m, Germany's northernmost summer toboggan run of the "Alpine Coaster" type is 700 m long (Side of the train).
- Walk through the beech forest on the Rugard: A 2.5 km long nature trail runs in the forest area on the mountain.

- Directions: The Rugard is signposted from the center of Bergen. Shortly from the end of the road there is a large one at the beginning of the forest 1 parking spotwhich can be used free of charge. The summer toboggan run is right at the parking lot. The Moritz-Arndt-Turm / climbing forest is only about 200 m away.
- Stop: You can stop off at the hotel restaurant "Am Rugard" directly below the tower.
