Putbus, the White City, is a city on the island to reprimand. As a planned city in the classical style with numerous palace-like buildings, it has retained a peculiar charm despite being neglected during the GDR era. The large castle park with fallow deer and numerous botanically valuable trees is well worth seeing. Due to the Second World War, the castle was neglected and later demolished.
