By plane
- The journey to Sellin by airliner turns out to be quite problematic due to the distance to commercial airports. The airport is 160 km away 1 Rostock-Laage
(IATA: RLG) offers only a few scheduled flight connections. The Hamburg Airport(IATA: HAM) is 320 km that Berlin Brandenburg Airport(IATA: BER)
is over 340 km away.
- 2 Rügen airfield (IATA: GTI). The Rügen airfield has a 900 m long asphalt runway and is approved for aircraft up to 5.7 t. It is ideally located in the center of the island for sports and business flyers. It is about 27 km to Sellin.
By train
The Deutsche Bahn offers a journey to with different products Putbus at. From there it continues with the Ruegen bath railway - called the mad roland until 3 Sellin-Ost train station
.
The faster option is to take the train to Mountains on Rügen or in the neighboring town Binz to drive and from there to travel by bus. This has the advantage that you don't have to change trains.
By bus
The main places on Rügen are good with the buses of the summer season Transport company Vorpommern-Rügen to reach. The buses usually run every hour on the main routes.
In the street
One drives at Stralsund Via the Rügen dam, you can reach Sellin by following the B 196.
The nicer way leads along the Deutsche Allenstraße via Putbus, but sometimes over very narrow streets.
mobility
In Sellin it is easy to get around on foot. Alternatively, there is the bathing railway (use free of charge with a valid tourist card) and a local bus. The Rasender Roland bathing railway stops in Sellin Ost (on the B196 3a) and Sellin West (on-demand stop). In the season it runs every hour.
Tourist Attractions
- 4 Pier. It is the landmark of Sellin and was rebuilt in the 1990s after it had to be demolished in 1978 due to its poor condition. On it there is a restaurant, a diving gondola and a small fish smokehouse. Rügen has a number of unusual registry offices, including in the Balticsaal of the Sellin pier. The branch office of the Mönchgut-Granitz registry office can hold up to 100 people and is in great demand.
- 1 Wilhelmstrasse. It is the promenade from Sellin and leads to the pier. Here there are almost exclusively houses in the style of the spa architecture and the majority of the Sellin restaurants.
- 1 Amber Museum Granitzer Str. 34. Here you can see the largest amber in Rügen. The entrance fee for adults is 1.50 euros.
- 2 Granitz Hunting Lodge. The hunting lodge is located in the largest forest area in Rügen and, on a clear day, offers a view of numerous areas in southern Rügen from the observation tower. The castle can be reached with the Rasender Roland.
- Friedensberg spa gardens. The spa park in the country, including the connection to the Baltic Sea terraces, was redesigned in 2013. An imposing natural stone staircase leads to the highest point. Young and old can test their fitness on the fitness trail.

- (Sun) bathing There are two beaches in Sellin. The fine sandy one South beach, also known as the Sellins bathtub, is approx. 2 km long and 25 m wide. The beach runs flat into the Baltic Sea, making it ideal for families with children. The Blue Flag certifies very good bathing water quality. In addition, the beach is guarded by the lifeguards of the DLRG. The North beach begins next to the pier on the wooded high bank of Sellins.

trips
- Beautiful walks lead to Binz or after Baabe. Inexperienced hikers can do that Frenzied Roland use for the return trip.
- They are near Sellin Granitz Hunting Lodge and the 3 Lancken-Granitz village church, an atmospheric village church from the 15th century. Both are also accessible by bus or the Frenzied Roland to reach.
- The 4 Black Sea is located in the Granitz nature reserve in the direction of Binz. The water is a nice destination for a short bike ride through the Granitz forest. The entire lake, the bogs on the edge and a 100 meter wide strip of forest surrounding the lake are designated as the core zone (total reserve) of the Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve. However, the north shore of the lake is accessible via the hiking trail leading from Sellin to Binz.
