The Hamburg Airport (since November 10, 2016 alsoHamburg Airport Helmut Schmidt) is the 5th largest international airport in Germany with over 17.6 million passengers annually (year 2017) and around 160,000 flight movements and is located in the north of the city between Fuhlsbüttel and Norderstedt.

Hamburg's airport has had a direct connection to the S-Bahn network since the end of 2008. Escalators and elevators take you from the airport terminal to the S-Bahn station. The underground station "Hamburg Airport" is approached by the S1, which is from frond via Altona, Jungfernstieg, Hauptbahnhof and Ohlsdorf. In Ohlsdorf, the train is split on the way to the airport.
