The Erfurt-Weimar Airport, international: Erfurt Weimar Airport, is mainly used as a commercial airport for charter flights to some hot water destinations. It is located about 6 kilometers west of the city center of Erfurt in the district of Bindersleben.

The former air base of the Luftwaffe has been used as a commercial airport for some inner-GDR flights as well as international flights since the 1950s. Since the fall of the Wall, the airport has never really established itself and is one of the smallest German commercial airports. There is (as of 2017) only charter air traffic to a few hot water destinations with few flight movements per day. With the opening of the high-speed railway lines via Erfurt to Halle / Leipzig and Nuremberg in 2015 and 2017, several larger airports (Leipzig, Frankfurt, Berlin, Nuremberg) can be reached in less than three hours and there is a threat of insurmountable competition with Erfurt Airport become.
