The Weeze Airport (Own name: Airport Weeze) is on Lower Rhine near the Dutch border. Between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m., six to 15 planes take off each day, depending on the day of the week, and a similar number of planes land every day.
background
Today's civil airport is a result of the British military airport that was closed in 1999 RAF Laarbruch emerged. Since the start in 2003 it has changed name several times and was initially called Niederrhein Airport, but has been known by Ryanair since 2003 Düsseldorf Airport (Weeze) marketed. After other name variants, which were supposed to suggest a proximity to Düsseldorf, were banned by the court, Flughafen Niederrhein GmbH has only called the airport "Airport Weeze" since 2005.
getting there
By train
The regional express Niers Express (RE 10) Düsseldorf - Krefeld - Kleve runs Mon-Fri during the day every half hour (otherwise every hour) on the non-electrified line from Krefeld and single-track from Geldern. Kevelaer (Arrivals, Departure) and Weeze (Arrivals, Departure) are the closest train stations. The applies VRR tariff.
By bus
- Public buses (VRR):
- Kevelaer train station: Airport line 73 (Public bus every 60 minutes, VRR tariff)
- Weeze train station: Airport line SW 1 (Public bus, partly taxi bus, every 60 minutes. The taxi bus only runs after prior notification at least 30 minutes before departure on Tel. 49-2841-8822444 daily from 6.30 a.m. to 10.30 p.m.
- Goch train station: Line SL 17 (Taxibus, only during the off-peak times). The taxi bus only runs 24 hours a day if you book in advance at least 30 minutes before departure on tel. 018010-47574.
- Shuttle buses from Germany:
- Bocholt: railway station (Reservation required at least 24 hours in advance)
- Duisburg: Bus station, Mercatorstr. (Reservations recommended)
- Düsseldorf: ZOB, Worringer Str. 140 (reservation recommended)
- Rees: Grüttweg car park (Reservation required at least 24 hours in advance)

With the taxi
The entire Kleve district is compulsory for taxis. In the compulsory driving area, a basic price of € 3.90 and a kilometer rate of € 2.10 during the day and € 2.20 at night and all day on Sundays and public holidays apply (as of 2019).
It is about six kilometers from the Weeze train station to the airport.

For each vehicle to the terminal or to the parking lots, one Access fee of € 3.00 (as of 2019) must be paid (plus parking fees> 60 min stay). This applies not only to parkers, but also, for example, to vehicles that drop off or pick up passengers without parking. Airport Weeze has around 7,000 parking spaces in three distance-dependent price levels. The distance to the terminal is between 50 and 900 m. Despite payment, this park is not guarded. - The airports are also less than 120 km away Eindhoven Airport(IATA: A) and Maastricht Aachen Airport(IATA: MST).
- Traveling with the is much more sustainable and less damaging to the climate than air travel train.

Events of all kinds occasionally take place on the extensive grounds of the former military airfield. Visitors who do not arrive from the air, but rather via the narrow Lower Rhine country roads, have to expect traffic jams:
