The Rome Ciampino Airport is located southeast of Rome near the motorway ring GRAA90 at the village Ciampino. The official name of the airport is Aeroporto di Roma-Ciampino “Giovan Battista Pastine”, named after an Italian airship major of the First World War.

The airport was opened during the First World War and initially only served as a military base for airships. After the Second World War he was until the opening of the Fiumicino airport in 1961 the commercial airport of Rome, after which it has lost its importance.
