Geographical notes

The municipality of Ciampino is located to the left of the Patatona ditch. Its municipal territory borders to the north and west with Rome, to the east with Grottaferrata and to the south with Marine. Ciampino is in fact a joint-hinge between the capital and the area of Roman castles.

When to go

The town is particularly popular during the summer.

Background

The center developed from the fifties was until 1974 a fraction of the neighboring municipality of Marine. The demographic boom has led Ciampino to be one of the centers with a significant population density within the metropolitan city of Rome.

Ciampino is crossed by the Strada Statale 7 Via Appia and the Strada Statale 511 Via Anagnina. The provincial road 217 Via dei Laghi also originates in its territory.

On the train

There 2 Ciampino station it is served by the Rome-Cassino-Naples, Rome-Albano, Rome-Frascati and Rome-Velletri.
