The Manfred Rommel Airport Stuttgart, international: Stuttgart Airport, is the airport of the state capital of Baden-Wuerttemberg. It is located 12 km south of the city center of Stuttgart in the field of cities Leinfelden-Echterdingen and Filderstadt.

Arrival and departure
By train
The Flughafen / Messe underground station can be reached with the S-Bahn lines S2 and S3 from the main station in 27 minutes for € 2.90 (2020 tariff) reachable. The S-Bahn goes directly to Level 1 of Terminal 1 at Stuttgart Airport. The nearest long-distance train station is:

By bus
Buses run every hour from Tübingen on line 828 (airport sprinter), from Esslingen train station every 30 minutes on line 122 and on line 809 from Degerloch and Leinfelden to the airport. Some long-distance bus lines also integrate the airport into their route network. The central bus stop is located directly in front of Terminal 1, arrivals level.

Terminals
Stuttgart Airport officially consists of 4 "terminals", which, however, only refer to different parts of the building. Terminals 1 and 3 serve as check-in areas for most airlines, while check-in area 1a in an adjacent building is only used for handling vacation flights at peak times. Most of the flights from Eurowings are checked in at Terminal 1, Terminal 2 only serves as a check-in area for Lufthansa Group flights (Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian), Terminal 4 consists of a converted former maintenance hangar and is used in particular for flights from and used to North Africa.
The security area of Terminals 1 to 3 is completely accessible, so that you should inform yourself about the current waiting times on the information screens attached there before the security check. For a departure from Terminal 1, it can make sense to take the (minor) detour via the security controls in Terminal 2 or 3 and vice versa. A Priority-Security control for status customers of various airlines and business class guests is located in Terminal 2, to the left of the main security control.

Change / transit
It is possible to change between terminal areas 1, 2 and 3 without leaving the security area (see above). Only when changing from Terminal 4 to Terminals 1-3 and vice versa is it necessary to go through another security check.
In the transit area there are various shopping opportunities (including several Travel Value shops) and dining options. There is also a Lufthansa Business and Senator Lounge (StarAlliance), an Air France Lounge (SkyTeam), a British Airways Lounge (OneWorld) and an independent lounge ("Elly-Beinhorn") on the level above the departure area -Lounge "from ChillOutLounges, PriorityPass, etc.).
