The EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg is, as its name suggests, the city's airport Basel, Mulhouse and Freiburg in Breisgau.

It is the only airport in the world that is operated jointly by two countries, namely France and Switzerland. It has two customs facilities: one for France and one for Switzerland.
Attention, the airport has several airport codes. So the flights are under Swiss direction with a destination airport Basel, Switzerland (IATA code BSL) dispatched. In the case of flights under French direction, however, the destination airport is Mulhouse, France (IATA code MLH). So it is advisable to look for both BSL and MLH when comparing prices.
Since the baggage claim takes place before passport control, it does not matter which airport code you have. Only then do you pass either the Swiss or French border control. By joining the Switzerland to the Schengen area separate handling is no longer applicable. However, the ICAO code is uniformly LFSB.
The EuroAirport has two runways. The longer one is slope 16/34 (3.9 km), the shorter slope 08/27 (1.6 km). Due to its length, runway 16/34 is a designated emergency landing site for the American space shuttle.
Closest airport is at Zurich, 90 km away. There are direct train connections from Basel SBB to Zurich Airport.

By bus and train
- Of Basel SBB Line 50 goes to EuroAirport every 10 minutes. There are individual buses that go to the airport without stopping. This bus line runs over the duty-free road, so you do not leave Switzerland for customs reasons.
- From the SNCF train station Mulhouse-Ville take the regional train to St. Louis station, then take bus number 11 (Timetable) to the airport
- The closest train stops are St-Louis (Haut-Rhin) (on the Basel-Mulhouse route, with a direct connection to Strasbourg) and St-Louis-la-Chaussee (fewer stops). The closest stop on the Swiss network is Basel St. Johann, in the German network Because on the Rhine. However, the two large train stations in Basel, Basel SBB / SNCF and Badische Bahnhof are primarily of practical importance.
- From Freiburg with the regional express / regional train to Basel Bad Bf, then with regional trains, the S-Bahn line S6, tram line 2 or bus line 30 to Basel SBB and from there with bus line 50 to EuroAirport. Alternatively, you can also travel by Flixbus or the Airport bus to (direct connection Freiburg Hbf -> Euro Airport)
