Dortmund Airport - Flughafen Dortmund

Dortmund Airport
Terminal A

The Dortmund Airport 21 is in the east of Dortmund.

background

The first airport or airfield was located in the Brackel district of Dortmund. Later they moved to the Wickede district, where the airport is still located today. It was not until 1983 that the airport received its first paved runway. The airport was then continuously expanded over the next few years.

Dortmund Airport is now ranked 13th among the largest German airports with around 2 million passengers per year. Since 2001 the number of passengers has practically doubled. In 2007 17 airlines took off from Dortmund to all of Europe. The airport has a runway of 2,000 meters. Thus, the size of the aircraft that can take off and land here is limited. The largest aircraft that take off from Dortmund are the Airbus 321 and the Boeing 757.
