The Federal motorway 73 (BAB 73 or A 73) runs in a south-north direction, it connects the Federal highway 71 with the Federal motorway 9. It begins at the Suhl motorway junction in Thuringia and continues in Bavaria via Coburg, Lichtenfels, Bamberg and Forchheim in Upper Franconia and further in Middle Franconia to Erlangen, Fürth and Nuremberg. It is also used in the Lichtenfels - Bamberg - Nuremberg section Frankenschnellweg called.
