The Federal motorway 14 (BAB 14 or A 14), is a federal trunk road, which is currently (2020) completed north branch of Wismar above Schwerin leads to Karstädt. The southern continuation over Wittenberg to Magdeburg is in the planning stage, partly under construction and opened to traffic in smaller sections. From Dahlenwarsleben north of Magdeburg, the motorway runs to its end at the Nossen triangle Federal motorway 4 in operation. The motorway is part of the Europastraße 49 from the Magdeburg junction to the Schkeuditzer junction.

The total length of the motorway, insofar as it has been in operation since September 14, 2020, is 333 km. After completion of the motorway, the total length should be 422.3 km.

background

The Leipzig - Halle (“LeHa”) section was opened in the 1930s, and the continuation towards Dresden was built in 1970/1971. Also the northern “Schwerin connection” to today's one Federal motorway 24 was, although not fully developed, completed in GDR times. After the reunification, it was initially given the name Bundesautobahn 241. Between the Federal motorway 2 (Kreuz Magdeburg) and Halle, the opening took place by the year 2000. The complete gap is planned by 2030.
