The Federal motorway 65 (BAB 65 or A 65) connects the city Ludwigshafen on the left bank of the Rhine with Karlsruhe, but pulls out further to the west than the somewhat shorter federal road, which has been developed as a “yellow motorway” that at Speyer and Germersheim passes by. The total of 59 km
however, takes its course Neustadt an der Weinstrasse and Landau in the Palatinate. From there it continues, partly in an economy version (stepped federal road
) at Candelabra and Wörth on the Rhine over to the Wörther Kreuz. There it goes into the federal highway 10, crosses after the
25 Maximiliansau on the six-lane Karlsruhe Rhine Bridge Rhine and runs as a southern bypass to Karlsruhe, which is formed in its western part by the B 10 and further by two at least four-lane, level crossing-free district roads to
45 Karlsruhe-center of Federal motorway 5 shortly before the junction of Federal motorway 8. The A 65, in conjunction with the partially developed federal highway 10 from Landau, is a reasonable replacement for the undeveloped section of the
between Pirmasens and Karlsruhe.

security
Between Landau and Kandel, the route of the autobahn runs on the former federal highway 10. Although it has four lanes, it has narrow lanes and no shoulder (only emergency bays). Careful driving is recommended here.
