The Federal motorway 45 (BAB 45 or A 45), also under the name Sauerland line known, is a federal trunk road that from Dortmund above Wins and Wetzlar in the room Hanau and Aschaffenburg leads and so the large rooms Cologne and Frankfurt am Main bypasses. It also forms part of the European route 41.
The total length of the motorway is 257 km.

The planning of the Sauerland line dates back to the 1950s. The continuation to the south as far as the Stuttgart area was never realized.
