Haiger is a city in Lahn-Dill-Bergland in Hessen.
background
Haiger is in the east Westerwald halfway between Wetzlar and Wins. Haiger and its districts mainly offer beautiful half-timbered town centers, but also nature and the impressive engineering structures of the Dill route, which crosses the border with North Rhine-Westphalia in a 2.5 km long tunnel.
The total of 14 districts of Haiger can be roughly divided:
- Follow the Dill valley upwards Rodenbach, Fellerdilln, Dillbrecht and Offdilln.
- In Rodenbach the Roßbach flows into the Dill. Follow upstream Niederroßbach, Oberroßbach and Weidelbach.
- On the Treisbach, which flows into the Dill shortly before Rodenbach Haigerseelbach and Steinbach.
- Located on the eponymous Haigerbach, between Haiger and the state border Allendorf.
- If you follow the Aubach upstream from the town center of Haiger, you will reach Flammersbach and Langenaubach.
- The last district, Six heroes, lies downstream of the Dill in the direction of Dillenburg.
getting there
By plane
By train
The 1 Haiger train station is on the dill route. There are hourly trains to Siegen Hbf and to Gießen, every two hours to Frankfurt Hbf. Every two hours a train from Betzdorf (there connection to the trains to Köln Hbf) runs through the Westerwald to Haiger. The stations in Allendorf, Sechshelden and Dillbrecht fall under "also ran"; Especially the Dillbrecht train station is remote in the middle of the forest and is not very suitable for a journey.
By bus
In the street
About the , Exit 25 Dillenburg. (The exit 24 Haiger / Burbach is called that, but it is much slower because you still have to go through a town through there.)
