Federal motorway 40

The Federal motorway 40 (BAB 40 or A 40), is a federal trunk road that runs from the federal border to the Netherlands at Venlo above Duisburg and eat to Dortmund leads. She is known as Ruhr expressway, although fast traffic is rarely possible on it (hence the name Ruhrschleichweg).

The total length of the motorway, insofar as it is in operation, is 95.4 km. After completion of the motorway, the total length should be 108.4 km. The further construction (on the route of Buundesstraße 1) is planned to the Dortmund / Unna junction, where the east branch of the Federal motorway 46 that already connects up kassel is continuously in operation.
