Federal motorway 37 - Bundesautobahn 37

Federal motorway 37

Contrary to what its two-digit number suggests, it is Federal motorway 37 (BAB 37 or A 37) only of local importance for the Hanover area, especially in its southern part as a feeder to the Hanover Fair grounds ("Messestutzen"). The short northern section (popularly known as “Moorautobahn”) replaces part of Bundesstraße 3 and serves as a road connection from Hanover to the old ducal city Celle.

The total length of the motorway (with both sections) is 14 km.

background

Originally from Bergen (Lüneburg Heath) above Celle and Hanover to Hildesheim The planned motorway was only realized as such on two short sections. The other route planned earlier consists of federal highway 3 in the north and federal highway 6 in the south. The motorway-like structure runs between the two sections Messeschnellweg.
