German Wine Route - Deutsche Weinstraße

The German Wine Route is a tourist route at the transition from Front Palatinate and Palatinate Forest in the southwest Rhineland-Palatinate parallel to the Upper Rhine. It runs through the second largest wine-growing region in Germany, the Palatinate.

The German Wine Route was set up in 1935 to promote tourism and market wine. Geographically, the 85 km long panoramic road extends from the German Wine Gate on the French border Wissembourg in Schweigen-Rechtenbach to the north to the house of the German Wine Route in Bockenheim, which is north of Grünstadt lies.

German Wine Route is also the name of the transition region characterized by viticulture Upper Rhine Plain to the Palatinate Forest, mainly to the east of the actual panorama route. A district in this region is called the Southern Wine Route. To the north is the Bad Dürkheim district. These counties enclose the cities Landau and Neustadt.
