Deidesheim is one of the most famous winemaking towns in the Palatinate. The place attracts hundreds of thousands of day visitors every year.
background
Deidesheim is on the German Wine Route. Protected by the Haardt Mountains in the west in the Vorderpfalz, Deidesheim has always been producing high quality wines. Especially Helmut Kohl During his time as Chancellor he liked to invite foreign state guests to Deidesheim to taste a classic Palatinate Saumagen together with Deidesheimer wine. Prominent guests from Deidesheim include the British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and the Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev.

- 2 Parish center Bernhardushof, Heumarktstrasse 18. The former winery from the 19th century was acquired by the Catholic parish and is now used as a community center. The entire building complex with historical buildings, some of which go back to the 16th century, is extremely worth seeing.

Regular events
- Billy goat auction on Tuesday after Pentecost. Every year on this day, a billy goat is auctioned off to the public for the benefit of the Deidesheim city sack. What began as a rather curious legal agreement with the neighboring town of Lambrecht is now a well-attended city festival.
- Deidesheimer Weinkerwe on the second and third weekend in August. It is one of the largest festivals in the region with up to 150,000 visitors.
