Rhodt under Rietburg is an attractive village on the German Wine Route. If Germany has a bit of Mediterranean flair, then this is on the Weinstrasse Palatinate Forest to find. Due to the mild location in southwest Germany and the Palatinate Forest, which is also somewhat protected from the westerly currents, spring begins earlier here than in many other regions in the country. Well-known sights are the castle "Villa Ludwigshöhe" and the Rietburg with chairlift. In addition, Rhodt has a cozy townscape with refreshment stops. The beautiful surroundings with many vineyards also invite you to go on excursions and hikes.

- 1 Edenkoben station. Change to bus line 500 in the direction of Rhodt. Use line 506 to get to Villa Ludwigshöhe and Rietburg with the chairlift (limited offer).
By bus
Long-distance bus lines do not go to Rhodt or Edenkoben.
In the street
Approach via the Autobahn A 65, exit Edenkoben (No. 16). Then drive via Edenkoben to Rhodt unter Rietburg.

Villa Ludwigshöhe Palace

Rietburg with chairlift
- 2 Rietburgbahn. The 2-seater chair lift climbs 220 meters up to the Rietburg. From a height of 550 m you have a wide view of the German Wine Route and the Rhine plain. With good visibility is in the northeast Mountain road with the Melibokus to recognize. In the southeast the view extends to the Northern Black Forest. Upstairs there is excursion gastronomy and a small game reserve. There are also hiking opportunities. The chairlift was integrated into the circular hike described under activities as an uphill ride.Open: in spring open from April 1st to around mid-November: Mon-Fri: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sat, Sun & public holidays: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. last ascent and descent 15 minutes before the end of operations. - 3 Rietburg castle ruins. Location right next to the mountain station of the chairlift. Viewing platform. There is also a castle tavern with a terrace. There are "zigzag paths" parallel to the chairlift. If you choose the loop path directly south of the chairlift, you will pass a small vantage point:
- 1 "Schöne Punkt" viewing platform. historical, covered lookout pulpit with a small valley view. There are two individual seats for one person each.Open: freely accessible.

- 4 Theresienstrasse. Well-known street in Rhodt unter Rietburg with "Mediterranean-style cosiness". Many houses are a.o. covered with grapevines. Large chestnuts line the cobbled street space in parts. There are some places to stop for a break.Open: freely accessible.
- 5 Tropical fruit garden. small botanical garden in Rhodt with marked beds. There is some nice seating (including a small fountain). The small park is located away from the often visited Theresienstraße.
- 6 Mariengrotte above Weyer. beautifully designed, idyllically located St. Mary's Grotto. The circular hike described under activities passes here.Open: freely accessible.
- 7 Ludwigsturm. The stone tower can be found in a clearing in the forest. The structure is largely ingrown. But there are still a few smaller views. There is also a refuge with a picnic area at the tower.Open: freely accessible.

Excursion gastronomy
Relevant excursion gastronomy within the day's hiking radius of the Rietburg chairlift mountain station:
- 5 Café-Bistro Therese. Excursion catering directly in the Villa Ludwigshöhe. When the weather is nice, the beer garden on the south side of the house is open (beautiful valley view).
- 6 Burgschänke Rietburg. The tavern can be found directly on the Rietburg castle ruins, terrace with a panoramic view of the valley.
- 7 Schweizerhaus (currently closed). the hut of the Palatinate Forest Association "Weyer" is located on the southeast slope of the Blattersberg (beautiful valley view). The house is located on the circular hike described under "Activities". As of 02-2019, the mountain hut is closed. According to the Palatinate Forest Association "Weyer, a new tenant is being sought.
- 8 Nellohütte (392 m). Managed hiking hut in the middle of the forest. The hut can only be reached on foot (also a potential hiking destination from Rietburg).
