Typical Palatinate dishes are e.g. the saumag, the liver dumplings or different types of homemade sausage. There is traditionally sauerkraut.
Vegetarians sometimes have a difficult time, but mostly, for example, "Swellings and cheese", i.e. jacket potatoes with quark, are available.
Due to the warm climate, figs, almonds and melons are now also grown commercially in the Vorderpfalz and have been enriching regional cuisine for some time.
