The Lower Saale Valley is a nature park in the central Saxony-Anhalt, between Calbe and Hall. At the same time, the name stands for the no longer completely flat landscape between the Magdeburg Börde or the lowland in the north and northwest, the Pre-flaming in the east (across the Elbe), the Central German chemistry triangle in the southeast and south and the Mansfeld country in the southwest.

getting there
By plane
The closest airport is the Leipzig Halle Airport(IATA: LEJ), which is well connected to the rail and motorway network and has scheduled flight connections with most domestic and some foreign airports. From Leipzig / Halle Airport you can take the S-Bahn or Intercity to Halle (Saale) Hbf and change there in the direction of the lower Saale valley. So you need a total of 35 minutes according to Könnern, 1:10 hours to Calbe, 1:15 hours to Bernburg.

By train
The closest long-distance stops are Hall (ICEs from Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg), Koethen and Magdeburg (IC Hannover – Leipzig), where you have to change to regional traffic. The hourly regional express train Halle – Köthen – Magdeburg stops among other things. in Calbe.

The A 36 leads from the Harz (Goslar, Wernigerode, Quedlinburg) to Bernburg. In the east, the B 185 leads from Dessau into the Saale valley; there is a connection to the A9 (Berlin-Leipzig) near Dessau.
By bicycle
One of the most beautiful travel options in and through the lower Saale valley is the Saaleradweg. This is part of the long-distance cycle route Ostsee – Oberbayern (D11). The crosses in Bernburg European cycle route R1 from the direction of Berlin and Dessau or Münster and Wernigerode. At Barby at the mouth of the Saale there is a connection to the Elbe cycle path.
