Staßfurt is a city in the Magdeburg Börde in Saxony-Anhalt.
background
The city was first mentioned in a document in 806. The castle complex was built in the 11th century. The city has had town charter since 1180.
The old town south of the Bode is roughly semicircular. Its main street, Steinstraße, runs in a north-south direction.
Staßfurt has a one hundred and fifty-year history of potash mining, which initially brought prosperity to the city, but subsequently brought mining damage to which large parts of the historic center fell victim. At the beginning of the 20th century, numerous buildings in the Grosser Markt area had to be demolished. The subsidence continued, so that Stassfurt is likely to be the only city in the world with a lake in the center instead of a market square.

By train
The 1 Staßfurt train station is on the Magdeburg - Güsten (- Erfurt) railway line and is served by regional railways and regional express trains. There is a clocked transition to Güsten from the direction of Köthen / Dessau or Aschersleben.
In the street
The A 14 motorway runs east of the city. From exit 9 (Staßfurt) it is about 8 km. Of Aschersleben coming, the federal highway 180 leads north, from which the L 73 branches off at Winningen.

From the train station it is a few hundred meters to both the former and the current center, so that visitors can easily walk or cycle through the city center.
There are three city bus routes that connect the outskirts and suburbs. There is a route network plan here (pdf file). The central hub is at the train station. Stassfurt belongs to the tariff area of the marego transport association. This means that the state tickets (Saxony-Anhalt / Thuringia / Saxony ticket) are also valid on the buses.

- The 1 ev. Church of St. Petri (1886 - 1891) is a three-aisled hall church. Sunday services start at 10:00 a.m.
- 2 Possibly St. Johannis Church and the former hospital (Luisenplatz 9) The church has a single nave, is made of bricks and has colored glass windows. The former hospital, today a care center for the elderly, has a late Gothic carved altar from the 15th century. It can be viewed Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday services start at 10:00 a.m.

- The permanent exhibition "Historical radio and television sets from Staßfurt", Löderburger Str. 94, 39418 Staßfurt, is located in the former administration building of the local RFT television equipment factory in Staßfurt-Nord near the bus station. The exhibition is organized by the association Friends of Staßfurt radio and television technology to chat.
