Tangerhütte is a city in the southern Altmark located on the river Tangier.

Tangerhütte is a comparatively young city. The place with a few dozen inhabitants was still called Vaethen in 1850. ! 808, under Napoleon, the place got a paved road. Tangermünde's development began in 1842 with the establishment of an ironworks on the banks of the Tangiers, which later gave the city its name. The hut uses lawn iron ore in the area as a raw material, and it still exists today as Technoguss GmbH.
The Wagenführ family of manufacturers had a park built with two castle-like villas (today Old lock from 1873 and New lock from 1910 (see sights).

Trains of the Magdeburg S-Bahn line S1 run every hour between Schönebeck /Magdeburg and Stendal as well as regional express trains every two hours between Hall and Uelzen. The nearest train stations with long-distance trains are Stendal and Magdeburg.
