The Upper Mainland extends along the Mains between Bayreuth and Bamberg.In the north the Franconian Forest and the Coburg country on, in the south the Franconian Switzerland, in the east that Fichtel Mountains and in the west the Hatred Mountains.

The Main near Schwürbitz

In the street

Bamberg is on the highways A73 and A70. Kulmbach can be reached via the A70 or the A9 Munich - Nuremberg - Berlin.

By train

There are hourly regional express connections, with connections to Lichtenfels alternating every two hours from Würzburg and Saalfeld. The Saalfeld trains change direction in Lichtenfels and travel via Kulmbach to Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg, one part of the train continues to Hof and the other to Bayreuth.

If you come from Nuremberg, you alternately change to the regional express trains mentioned either in Bamberg or Bayreuth.

climate

The climate in the Main Valley is warmer and more pleasant than in the neighboring one Franconian Forest or Fichtel Mountains. A closed snow cover over a longer period of time was rare in the last few winters.
