The rounded shapes of the blocks were created by the so-called Weathering of wool sacks. This resulted in today's wildly romantic paths through narrow crevices and steep stairs. Today the rock labyrinth is a popular excursion destination that can be walked on by anyone with sturdy shoes, fun for children and adults who enjoy crawling and climbing. • It is hardly known that the Luisenburg is a civil landscape garden that has no connection to a castle or a residence. It was also not made by aristocrats, but by citizens of the city of Wunsiedel, who held their Margaret Festival with plays here as early as 1665, as documented by the archives. Little by little, the garden was created through "architectural garden art" (GOETHE), which also includes the natural stage. The former Losburg, also called Lugsburg and Luxburg, was renamed Luisenburg in 1805. The Kaiserfelsen and the Burgstein also belong to this civil landscape garden. This "garden revolution" is not only a masterpiece of nature and the citizens of Wunsiedel alike, but also a uniqueness in European gardening history.
  • The 8 Burgstein rocks (869 m above sea level) is a protected geotope near the Luisenburg. The mighty granite rocks lie at the 50th parallel in the Wunsiedler city forest. Stone steps and wooden stairs have led to the rock pulpit since 1790. The rock offers a good panoramic view of almost all the mountains of the Fichtelgebirge, Bohemia and the mountain ranges of the Upper Palatinate. Prominent visitors were on July 3rd, 1785 Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, the romantics Ludwig Tieck and Wilhelm Heinrich Wachenroder on Whitsun 1793 and on March 16th 1805 came Queen Luise and Friedrich Wilhelm III. of Prussia.
