Same, the city of porcelain, lies on the edge of the Fichtelgebirge, not far from the Czech border. The most important company in the city is the porcelain manufacturer Rosenthal AG, which also operates the “Hutschenreuther” brand. Selb acts as a major district town in the Wunsiedel district.

The train stations are in Selb 1 Selb-city and the stops 2 Selb-North, 3 Erkersreuth and 4 Selb-Plößberg. The next larger train station is Hof, where trains from Dresden, Bamberg, Nuremberg and Regensburg stop. There you can change to long-distance buses and the regional train with the final stop in Selb Stadt. There are also bus connections from the train stations in Marktredwitz and Marktleuthen, the next train stations to the east and south. In the Czech Republic, the train stations are in Aš easy to reach.

- 3 That is to the east of the Vorwerk Forest pool, which is essentially accessible via two streets. Either you drive over the road to Hohenberg to behind the Edeka and then left or over the Christian-Höfer-Ring to the signpost "Schausteinbruch". The forest pool consists of an elongated lake that is part of a larger lake system east of Selb. Admission is not required and the opening times are daily between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. depending on the weather from May to mid-September.
- Near the Selber Vorwerk in the south, a 5.8 km long one became Planet trail (Scale 1: 1 billion). The 5.8 km long path starts at the school complex and leads through the adjacent Hammerwald. He can also be ridden.

- Market people (12 km to the west) - city on the upper reaches of the Eger; Protestant parish church of St. Nicholas.
