mobility
Railway lines in the Western Ore Mountains:
- Zwickau–Aue–Schwarzenberg–Johanngeorgenstadt: In the 1950s, this route was - apart from the long-distance railway from Dresden to Zwickau on the northern edge - the most important railway in the Ore Mountains, because this was the railway used to transport uranium for the Soviet Union. Today regional trains run here every hour. Aue can be reached in half an hour, Schwarzenberg in 45 minutes and Johanngeorgenstadt in 1 hour 16 minutes.
- Chemnitz–Aue is only part of a connection that used to go down to the Vogtland was enough. Regional trains connect the two cities every two hours in 1 hour 17 minutes.
Large parts of the Erzgebirge region are part of the Verkehrsverbund Central Saxony (VMS) organized. In the VMS tariff area, network tickets are valid on all public transport in the respective tariff zones. The Saxony (Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia) ticket is also valid on all VMS means of transport.
