Like no other city in Bavaria, Coburg is closely linked to the history of Central Germany. Until 1919, the city and the country belonged to the dual duchy of Saxony-Coburg and Gotha. The most famous specialty is that Coburg sausage, at 25 cm it is the largest in Franconia.
