Effeltrich is a municipality in the district Forchheim in the Bavarian administrative district Upper Franconia in the Southern Franconian Switzerland, about 20 kilometers north of Nuremberg

The place Effeltrich was first mentioned in 1174 and the name means Apple kingdom, a place with lots of apple trees. Even today, fruit tree cultivation still shapes the place.
