Muggendorf is a place in Upper Franconia in Bavaria. He is in the Franconian Switzerland in the valley of the Wiesent.

Muggendorf forms together with Streitberg the community Wiesenttal with about 2500 inhabitants, they are the oldest climatic health resorts in the region.

Tourist Attractions
- Castle ruins Neideck, a Bamberg district castle, first mentioned in the 13th century when it was handed over to the Schlüsselbergs. The siege in 1347 and the death of Konrad von Schlüsselberg are known. In 1553 the castle was destroyed.
- There are numerous Stalactite cavessuch as the Oswald Cave, a through cave above Muggendorf, or the Wundershöhle about 20 meters further. There is also the Witzenhöhle, Doktorshöhle, Rosenmüllershöhle, Geißloch, Fuchsenhöhle, Schönsteinhöhle and many more.

There are a variety of hiking trails around Muggendorf.
- The Wiesenttal Trail with 22 km and 1000 meters of altitude you can hike comfortably or run fast.

The Wiesent and its tributaries are an Eldorado for fly fishermen. Between Waischenfeld and Ebermannstadt there are many ways Day tickets to acquire. Bottom and spin fishermen are not neglected either.
water sports
The Wiesent offers the only river hike that is still permitted for fans of easy white water (levels of difficulty WW I and II). A nice tour with your own boat is about 13 km on the river from Doos to Muggendorf and then about 4 km on foot over the steep mountain back to the vehicle. The 16 km long railway line from Ebermannstadt about Muggendorf Behringersmühle was from "Steam Railway Franconian Switzerland e.V."accepted. The association runs a scheduled operation with steam and diesel locomotives and historically reconditioned passenger coaches on this scenic route. The St. Nicholas rides are also popular with children, but you have to register early.
