The 1 Pegnitz railway station, just under 15 minutes' walk from the town center is on the railway line from Nuremberg to Bayreuth or over Speicherersdorf and Marktredwitz continue after Eger (Cheb) leads. The RegionalExpress stops every hour. The route from Nuremberg to Pegnitz through the valley of the river Pegnitz is worth seeing, the route with the many bridges and tunnels through the narrow valley would make an excellent model for a model railway.

Local public transport in the Nuremberg metropolitan region is operated by the Greater Nuremberg Transport Association VGN operated. It is possible to use different means of transport with one ticket, such as bus, train, S-Bahn or U-Bahn. The tickets can be purchased online or via an app.

By bicycle

Pegnitz lies on Pegnitz cycle path, which leads from Bayreuth to Neuhaus an der Pegnitz.
