The small town Goldkronach lies on the western edge of the Fichtelgebirge Nature Park and not far from Bayreuth, the capital of Upper Franconia. Gold and silver used to be mined in Goldkronach.

By plane

It takes about an hour to drive from / to Nuremberg Airport (IATA: NUE, ICAO: EDDN).

For sports pilots (also for ULs and especially for glider pilots) the Bayreuth airfield, which borders the Goldkronach urban area, is suitable.

By train and bus

Whoever arrives by train drives to Bayreuth and then continue with the Bayreuth – Goldkronach – Bad Berneck bus, which runs every hour on weekdays and at least every other hour on other days.

Local public transport in the Nuremberg metropolitan region is operated by the Greater Nuremberg Transport Association VGN operated. It is possible to use different means of transport with one ticket, such as bus, train, S-Bahn or U-Bahn. The tickets can be purchased online or via an app.

From direction Munich you drive on the descent Bayreuth-North down and then over the large roundabout towards Willow Hill to the junction to Goldkronach.
