Pottenstein is a city in the district of Bayreuth in the Bavarian administrative district Upper Franconia. Pottenstein is a state-approved climatic health resort.

The closest international airport is the Nuremberg Airport.
In the street
Pottenstein lies between the motorways 
and 
and can be reached via federal highway 470. The Castle Road continues through the village to Bayreuth.
By train and bus
The next train station is in Pegnitz on the route Nuremberg - Bayreuth. From there the bus (VGN line 389) goes to Pottenstein. On weekends between Pentecost and October 3rd, the bus runs every hour.
Local public transport in the Nuremberg metropolitan region is operated by the Greater Nuremberg Transport Association VGN operated. It is possible to use different means of transport with one ticket, such as bus, train, S-Bahn or U-Bahn. The tickets can be purchased online or via an app.

The 1000-year-old castle, imposing on a rock above Pottenstein, is privately owned, but can be visited including the castle museum. The entry also serves to preserve the castle. Already interesting is the way up a hundred steps long wooden staircase that stretches along the rock, no step is like the other. In the main building some beautifully preserved old rooms that are shown in full equipment, in the fountain house earlier everyday objects are shown, in the barn various poster exhibitions, including on the recent history of the castle. - The 3 Felsburg Tüchersfeld is an imposing rock castle, it dominates the village of Tüchersfeld. The towering rocks are the remains of a reef that grew in a tropical sea during the Jurassic period.
- 4 Devil's cave, B470, 91278 Pottenstein. Tel.: 49 9243 208. The cave begins with a huge rock grotto, one of the largest in Germany. Behind it begins the actual cave with stalactites. The large "Barbarossadom" with dimensions of 45 x 18 x 15 m is particularly impressive; a village church would have space in the giant hall. - At the 6th January On Epiphany, the decision of "Eternal Adoration" is traditionally in Pottenstein in the form of a Festival of lights celebrated. Almost 1000 fires burn on the rocks around Pottenstein. After the last hour of prayer, when it gets dark at 5:00 p.m., the final procession through the village begins. During the procession, the fires are lit on the slopes around Pottenstein.
