  • If Francs from Walberla speak, the Zeugenberg (Table Mountain) east of Forchheim, they mean the "Ehrenbürg", as the mountain is called by its real name. The honorary citizenship consists of the 532 m high Rodenstein and the 512 m high Walberla, which is crowned by a chapel built in the 17th century. The whole area is a nature reserve with warmth-loving deciduous forests, bushes, semi-arid and dry grassland and rock band societies.
  • The Devil's cave at Pottenstein begins with a huge rock grotto, one of the largest in Germany. Behind it begins the actual cave with stalactites. The large "Barbarossadom" with dimensions of 45 x 18 x 15 m is particularly impressive; a village church would have space in the giant hall. A visit is only possible as part of the 45-minute guided tour, the path leads over a total of 400 steps and standing is not possible in all sections of the path, cave temperature 9 ° C all year round. Tel. 49 (0) 9243 208, April 1st to November 4th daily 9.00-17.00, November 5th to Palm Saturday Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday from 10.00-15.00, adults and young people 3.80 euros, children (4-15 years ) 2.00 euros (as of 2010).
  • The Bing cave near Streitberg was discovered and developed by the Nuremberg toy manufacturer Ignaz Bing in 1905. It has a length of about 400 m and contains fantastic stalactite formations. The Bing cave is Germany's largest gallery stalactite cave. Tel. 49 (0) 9196 19433
