Neumunster is in Schleswig-Holstein the fourth largest city and therefore relevant as a transport hub.   • Einfelder See. The Einfelder See is located in the north of Neumünster between the village of Mühbrook and the district of Einfeld. There is a small inflow from the Dosenmoor into the lake, there are no other noteworthy tributaries. This is why the lake is almost completely fed by groundwater and precipitation. The Einfelder See has an area of ​​168 hectares and is therefore one of the larger lakes in Schleswig-Holstein. The nature reserve "Westufer des Einfelder See" is located on the western bank. Since 1987, 13 hectares have belonged to the nature reserve and offer many waterfowl opportunities for retreat and protection. There are beach sections with sunbathing lawns at the Einfeld village bay and the east side of the lake. On the south-eastern side of the lake, some clubs have boathouses. Driving on the lake with canoes and kayaks as well as rowing and sailing boats is permitted. Stone sculptures are set up on the north-eastern beach to emphasize the harmony between nature and art.
  • Canned moor. The Dosenmoor nature reserve is located in the north of Neumünster. It is the largest and best preserved raised bog in Schleswig-Holstein.
