background

Ringing is the largest and most economically important municipality in Oberklettgau in terms of population, it has seen extremely lively construction activity in the past few decades (and then wrote news headlines), as well as an increase in the number of residents and schoolchildren. The location in the agglomeration of the city of Schaffhausen and the easy accessibility of the agglomeration of Zurich make Beringen an attractive place to live.

The municipality of Beringen extends from the Enge (a residential area was built on the border with Neuhausen) along the southern slope of the Randen to the vineyards of Löhningen and did after the merger with Guntmadingen extended to the southern edge, so that the municipality with the border between Guntmadingen and Jestetten borders on German territory (and even has an external EU border ...).
What is unusual in Oberklettgau is the fact that no stream drains the valley, even though the Rhine once had its stream bed here in ancient times. The village stream from the Lieblosental runs covered up from the Oberdorf and emerges again below the village to seep away in the "infiltration system" in the Rossfiti in a pond that is under nature protection.

There are traces of settlement from the Bronze Age, with the remains of a Roman estate in the Lieblosental from the Roman era and with the Alemanni graves with grave goods from the 7th century. found from the early Middle Ages. After it turned out that a deed of gift from the year 965, which had been attributed to Emperor Otto I, was a forgery from the 12th century. the congregation had already celebrated its 1000th anniversary. After the first mention was corrected to 1090 thanks to a deed of donation from the Counts of Nellenburg to the Allerheiligen monastery in Schaffhausen, the 925th anniversary was celebrated in 2005.

In any case, the noble family of the "Hünen von Beringen" is known for the high Middle Ages, who lived in the "castle" in the old town center. In 1530, after the city of Schaffhausen and the surrounding subject communities had been part of the Confederation for 29 years, 43 households were counted. The farming village at the beginning of the 20th century. Developed rapidly thanks to the proximity of industry in Neuhausen and Schaffhausen and became an industrial location itself in the 1960s.
