The market town is the economic center of the Casentino. During the Middle Ages the town belonged to the Bishop of Arezzo. In 1360 the city came to Florence. From the time of the Florentine rule, some Renaissance palaces have been preserved (see sights).

Chiesa Santi Ippolito e Donato
  • At the 1 Palazzo Dovici at Via Dovizi 26, it is the Dovizi family palace. One of the most famous family members is certainly Cardinal Bernardo Dovizi, known as Bibiena (1470-1520).
